AIA Insurance Lanka has once again reaffirmed its commitment to the community by renewing its long-standing partnership with the Sri Lanka Cancer Society through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the 8th consecutive year.
This continued collaboration marks another milestone in a relationship built on a shared vision of advancing cancer care, awareness, prevention and early detection across Sri Lanka.
Further strengthening a partnership that continues to make a meaningful difference, the official signing ceremony held recently, brought together senior representatives from AIA Insurance Lanka and the Sri Lanka Cancer Society.
Funded primarily through public donations, the Sri Lanka Cancer Society plays a critical role in supporting those affected by cancer, including the operation of Shantha Sevana Hospice for terminally ill patients, overseeing a residential care facility at the Bandaranaike Memorial Cancer Homes for patients receiving treatment at Apeksha Hospital, and the provision of medication and financial assistance to support cancer survivors on their recovery journey.
Over the years, AIA’s support has played a significant role in sustaining the Cancer Society’s services, including providing essential care to underprivileged patients and strengthening nationwide awareness programs. Through sustained initiatives focused on early detection and prevention, AIA has helped empower communities to take proactive steps towards better health outcomes. As part of this partnership, AIA will continue its pledge to contribute Rs. 100 from every new policy sold, directly supporting the Cancer Society’s vital efforts in patient care, public education, and rehabilitation initiatives.
AIA Insurance Lanka Director/CEO Chathuri Munaweera said: “Our long-standing partnership with the Cancer Society is one which resonates with our company’s purpose of helping Sri Lankans live healthier, longer, better lives. Together, we have made meaningful progress in raising awareness on early detection and providing care for those in need, and we remain dedicated to deepening this impact in the years ahead.”
Sri Lanka Cancer Society Chairman Anura Perera expressed his appreciation for AIA’s continued commitment, noting that the partnership has been instrumental in expanding the Society’s reach and enhancing the quality of support extended to cancer patients while strengthening education and awareness efforts nationwide. “AIA has been a valued partner in our mission for many years, and their continued support enables us to reach more patients, strengthen awareness programs, and encourage early detection across the country. This enduring partnership reflects a shared commitment to improving lives and creating a greater impact in the fight against cancer in Sri Lanka,” he added.
