Customs detained goods worth nearly Rs. 5 billion stuck in the Port’s terminals and warehouses

About 89 containers imported into Sri Lanka and detained by the customs have been stored in the Port’s terminals and warehouses for many years and hence it has not been possible to collect any port fee for those containers. This was revealed at a discussion held at the Ministry of Ports on 3rd February headed by Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva.
