each month, this stop in Mexico is something to look forward to for those who crave the bold and exuberant flavours that are synonymous with this exotic country.
The Mexican Fiesta will bring home popular dishes like Burritos, SopaSeca (Mexican Rice), Tortilla and Nachos. Mexican cuisine is primarily a fusion of indigenous Mesoamerican cooking with the influence of European and especially Spanish elements included. Mexican cuisine also became infused with Indian spices like chilli, allspice, cinnamon and coriander seed to name a few. The Spaniards also introduced olive oil, cilantro and oregano which are vital ingredients in many Mexican dishes.
Dessert is the last course of the comida, the main meal of the day. Traditionally served boiled, steamed or eaten raw, Mexican desserts have evolved to include certain fried items such as the famous churros which were introduced by the Spaniards. The delectable sweet treats on offer at The Dining Room also include churros, cajeta ice-cream, Mexican coconut flan, ancho truffles, and capirotada amongst many others.
The exotic Mexican Fiesta will commence on 11 October and continue until 24 October. Priced at just Rs. 2,555 per person, the buffet will give diners the chance to savour exquisite Mexican dishes in the comfort of Colombo’s most cosmopolitan restaurant.
