Furniture Factory launches showroom 

The Furniture Factory opened its elegant new store in Colombo 5 recently to meet the increasing demands of their customers. Managing Director (MD) Saeed Ahamed treated the elite customers, which included celebrities, corporate players and well wishers to a tour of the new premises. He was joined by the owner of the Velona Group, Gehan De Soysa.

The clients were given a taste of the designer items and services they could come to expect from the new store. The Furniture Factory was launched exactly a year ago at Lily Avenue, as a gallery at which customers could order customized furniture and have it delivered. However, many customers wished to see the finished products and so a suitable display area was deemed necessary. This has the added advantage of allowing potential buyers to browse through the exclusive furniture at their own leisure.

While the store retains their policy of delivering individual custom- designed furniture within a 30-60 day period, they now also offer ready-made designs. The creations on display range from dining sets to side boards and full length coffee and dinner tables. The choices make for easy purchases for the home, garden or even as gifts. The furnishings are crafted with the intention to suit all manner of requirement including living, dining, bedroom and outdoor leisure areas.

The MD attested to the superior quality with which the pieces are made, by using seasoned teak timber to “ensure quality products that last a lifetime”, according to Ahamed. The company also pays great attention to detail, obtaining all their hinges and other accessories from superior quality brands and brass fittings from India or Indonesia. Certain furniture items such wardrobes come with custom- made handles for each client’s specific requirements.

The store is well-equipped with a sofa manufacturing plant as well as workshops in Moratuwa and Wadduwa to fulfil customer’s furniture specifications. The Furniture Factory also incorporates the latest digital technology to create a 3-D visual representation of the client’s idea, further refined and developed to perfection by the store’s experts.

Sabreena Joonoos, the Interior Designer for the firm said that the digital representation was useful for “allowing the client to see the product in proper scale, and how it interacts with their interiors”. She elaborated, “Our team of professionals who are constantly up-to-date with the latest design trends are able to provide immediate guidance with regards to the finer details such as selection of suitable colours, fabrication and materials.”The Furniture Factory is now open to customers throughout the week from 10 am to 7 pm, except on Poya and mercantile holidays at its new premises at 216, Havelock Road.
