American-style Social Dance Lessons at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo

Dance like nobody’s looking! One of those poorly thought out pieces of advice that favours the naturally agile and graceful of us? 

You won’t think so after a few lessons at the Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo from Hiran Perera, an American trained dance instructor who has recently returned to share his experience with students in his mother country.  With the technique mastered, there will no longer be a reason to be self conscious while you dance.  

The lessons will begin on October 5, 2010.  Refreshingly different to the frequently practiced international style of dance, Hiran’s American style dance classes will be offered at the Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo Aerobics Studio. American style dancing is considered ideal for social dancing and is an excellent fitness program for all ages.

Hiran trained for over five years at the Spotlight Dance Studio in Sacramento, California, where dancers are trained for national competitions and shows all over the United States. He received his certification from the Professional Ballroom Teachers Academy in California, U.S.A as a Bronze level teacher in American style Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Cha Cha, Rumba, Bolero, East Coast Swing and LA style Salsa.

During the month of October, Hiran will teach a Beginner Bronze level series in Waltz on Tuesdays, the Cha Cha on Wednesdays and Salsa on Fridays.  In November, Hiran will teach a Beginner Bronze level series in Foxtrot on Tuesdays, the Rumba on Wednesdays and the East Coast Swing on Fridays.

Each beginner bronze series will involve seven to ten syllabus figures (steps or patterns).  

Practice dances and intermediate bronze level classes are also on the cards for the future.

Dance lessons will be offered at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:15 to 8:15pm at Rs. 750 per person per class.  Participants are advised to check with their physicians prior to commencing lessons.
