South Asian Modern with Shezad Dawood will be held on 6 October from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.at the De Saram House, 61/6 Ward Place, Colombo 07

Admission is free with prior registration

In this talk, multidisciplinary artist Shezad Dawood will explore the cultural and social dynamics behind regional South Asian modernism.

Looking specifically at five key buildings or architects operating across South Asia, Dawood will discuss how each case reveals a specific moment of nation-building in the immediate post-war and post-colonial period.

Dawood will present these theories through the medium of his work, which interweaves stories, realities and symbolism to create richly layered artworks, spanning painting, textiles, sculpture, film and digital media.
