Reflections – an exhibition of art by Salinga Gunasekara and Saroja Dharmadasa will take place on 30 and 31 August at the Harold Pieris Gallery. The two-day exhibition will feature textile work and Lankan traditional art inspired by temple paintings, mandalas and other meditative forms.
A textile and fashion designer dedicated to revitalising traditional handloom art, Salinga blends Dumbara weaving techniques with contemporary designs. His work, ranging from sarongs, linen to fine art tapestries, reflect heritage, innovation, and beauty. They also kindle cultural memory while inspiring confidence and artistic renewal, preserving the Lankan identity for future generations.
An accomplished visual artist, illustrator and a curator, Saroja’s creative journey has been shaped by her diverse interests and experience. Saroja’s practice is grounded in spiritual symbolism, temple mural influences and meditative forms. Her work combines abstract and traditional elements to explore feminity, inner stillness and cultural memory, often expressed through mandalas, natural imagery and sacred verses.
The exhibition will be open to public from 10 a.m to 6 p.m on both days.
