Maestro Ilaiyaraja’s musical extravaganza hits Colombo this weekend

The globally acclaimed South Indian musician, Ilaiyaraja popularly known as Maestro Ilaiyaraja, is set to perform in two musical concerts today (20) and tomorrow at the Sugathadasa Stadium.

After the postponement of his concert earlier in January, event organisers have announced that tickets purchased for the initial dates will remain valid for the rescheduled performances.

Accompanying the maestro were 11 singers and 27 musicians, forming a distinguished ensemble.

The event promises to be a musical extravaganza, offering audiences the opportunity to immerse themselves in the maestro’s iconic compositions. With anticipation building for this long-awaited event, music enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting an unforgettable musical experience to witness Ilaiyaraja’s legendary performance live in Colombo, as he takes the stage to showcase his timeless classics. 

With an illustrious career spanning from 1976, Ilaiyaraja has an indelible mark on the world of music, having composed background scores for a staggering 1,500 films.
