Two unique sculptures designed by Lalith Senanayake, an expert painter and sculptor from Sri Lanka, have been selected from among the work of designers throughout the world as iconic masterpieces to enhance the beautification of the city of Chengdu, a major city in China.

The Chengdu city Government invited artists from 26 countries to submit their works for this purpose, and among them, the Chinese Government decided to install the works of six artists in the country’s tourism promotion zone, Green Way Park.

Senanayake, who is among these six designers, has both the designs presented there along with the Sri Lankan flag.

According to Lalith Senanayake, he had visited the province earlier and presented two designs, keeping in mind the backdrop under which the design should be carved.

One of the sculptures is made of stainless steel and depicts a horse on the Silk Road in China. In addition, he has created another classic theme design, which depicts two birds flying freely.

Senanayake is an expert who has held many local and foreign sculptor exhibitions. He has also created a huge elephant made of discarded plastic on Uswatakeiyawa Beach, which gained world recognition some time ago.
