The Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association’s (SLGGA) Branch for the Differently Abled Guides has organised an enchanting evening of song and dance, set to take place on 8 October at The Oak Room of Cinnamon Grand Hotel in Colombo 3.

This event serves as a platform to showcase the remarkable talents of the Differently Abled Girl Guides, who play an integral role within the SLGGA. These young individuals are empowered to become responsible citizens, regardless of their disabilities, not only in their country but also in the wider world.

The Branch for the Differently Abled Guides, previously known as the Branch for the Handicapped, was established in 1924 with the purpose of recognising and providing equal opportunities for disabled Girl Guides. Its mission revolves around the integration of disabled individuals with their non-disabled counterparts, enabling them to contribute responsibly to society. Representing Girl Guides from all nine provinces of Sri Lanka, this branch has been steadfast in its commitment to serve these girls for almost a century.

As the Branch for the Differently Abled Guides approaches the significant milestone of 100 years of service, it is determined to expand its reach and provide even more opportunities to these remarkable individuals. Public support for this endeavour goes a long way in transforming the lives of the Differently Abled Girl Guides and promoting a more inclusive and compassionate society.
