DUO debuts; book signing at Sarasavi Book Shop Nugegoda today

Critically acclaimed and award winning popular novelist Surath de Mel’s new book DUO was launched at the end of January as a Sarasavi Publication. DUO book signing will be held in Sarasavi Book Shop Nugegoda on 18 February from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. 

It is the story of a duo. Uma and Sara. Kegalle and Kerala. Sri Lanka and India. Break it as you want but it is the story of two women. Two stories simplifying the common story of women in the region. In Uma, it is our story we confront. We don’t necessarily dream of being Sara the victim but Sara the bold survivor. Given the choice between the two, the latter is the story we wish to represent us.

It is not just two unknown women. Duo is our reality in different names. 

Duo is the third novel of Surath de Mel where he wades into an entirely different theme. From his former heroines to Uma and Sara, it is a scary leap. One from soft romance to painful reality. Yet, it is the best and the boldest of leaps a novelist can make. Now it is entirely up to the reader to embrace or reject. Rejecting one’s own story in many ways big and small is definitely not possible. Duo, is that story. Surath’s best story.
