Colombo Port City Mall was abuzz with excitement as CAN Market, in collaboration with the mall, hosted a grand International Women’s Day celebration. The event brought together an inspiring lineup of female personalities, including beauty pageant titleholders, politicians, actresses, and renowned figures such as Sangeetha Weeraratne, Ramani Fernando, Rosy Senanayake, Caroline Jurie, Ishadhi Amanda among others.
The highlight of the event was a Sip and Craft session, where these accomplished women tested their creativity alongside talented artisans. The initiative aimed to encourage and empower female entrepreneurs, providing them with a platform to showcase their skills and connect with established industry leaders.
Adding to the celebration, 30+ homegrown female-led brands from across the island took centre stage at Port City Mall during the Women’s Day weekend. This initiative reinforced CAN Market’s commitment to supporting women in business and the creative industry.
The Creative Isle and CAN Market initiative Founder and CEO Keshini Seneviratne Suraweera, shared the inspiring journey of CAN Market. She reflected on its beginnings as a COVID-era project that started with just 50 entrepreneurs and has now grown into a thriving community of over 300 vendors. Over the past five years, CAN Market has organized 250+ events at prestigious venues, creating vital opportunities for local artisans.
