Anonymous Productions, the theatre arm of Sevalanka Foundation, presents ‘Fairytales Suck!’, a bold and thought-provoking comedy that reimagines the classic fairy tales told to children.

Set to be staged on 22 and 23 March, this production takes a sharp, witty look at how these stories have, for generations, normalised the exploitation of women — an issue that remains largely undetected in popular culture.

Told through the eyes of the legendary Mata Hari, ‘Fairytales Suck!’ follows her journey as she stumbles through her own so-called fairytale, unravelling the hidden truths behind the narratives people grew up with.

This satirical and entertaining play challenges audiences to rethink gender roles and societal expectations, all while delivering a night of laughter, humour, and unexpected revelations.

The production is more than just a theatrical performance — it is part of a larger movement under the Embrace Equity initiative. Spearheaded by Anonymous Productions and Sevalanka Foundation, this initiative aims to empower women entrepreneurs by supporting mentorship and networking opportunities.

The first phase of Embrace Equity brings together established women entrepreneurs with emerging businesswomen, including rural enterprise leaders, in a structured mentorship program designed to create long-term growth and market linkages.
