Inaugural Convocation of Institute of Chartered Corporate Secretaries of Sri Lanka

The inaugural Convocation and Graduation Ceremony of the Institute of Chartered Corporate Secretaries of Sri Lanka was held last Sunday at the BMICH as a gala event with the participation of the special invitees, family members and well-wishers of the awardees. The Chief Guest for the event was Founder President of the Institute Deshamanya Professor M. T. A. Furkhan. Retired Professor of Mathematics and Physics at the University Technical School in Dortmund, Germany, Dr. Walter Quiring was the Guest of Honour. Over 55 graduates were awarded degrees and memberships of the Institute of Chartered Corporate Secretaries of Sri Lanka whilst many were recognised for their exemplary performances with medals, prizes and certificates for their achievements. The Sri Lanka branch of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) was established in 1953 as an Association of the Sri Lankan Members of the ICSA of London. It gained local status in 1985 and was incorporated as the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators in Sri Lanka with its registered office at Colombo 5. The Institute changed its name as Institute of Chartered Corporate Secretaries of Sri Lanka which emphasised the key corporate role of the company secretary in today’s context and conducts its own local examinations
