The vibrant three-day celebration ‘Salam Ramadan 2026’ began yesterday at Green Path, Colombo, transforming the venue into a festive boulevard celebrating unity and cultural heritage.
More than 125 stalls are taking part, offering traditional Muslim cuisine, henna art, Arabic calligraphy, and a range of products and services, alongside automobile displays and community outreach initiatives.
The event also features a rich cultural line-up, including Islamic choir performances, traditional devotional songs, dramas and performances by schoolchildren. While rooted in Muslim spiritual and cultural traditions, the festival attracted visitors from all faiths and backgrounds. Western Province Governor Hanif Yusoof and Colombo Municipal Council Mayor Vraie Cally Balthazaar attended the opening ceremony.
