Launched in 2024 under the theme “Empowering Agribusiness and Driving Economic Growth,” HNB Sarusara is HNB’s flagship agripreneurship program, bringing together cutting-edge technologies, sustainable farming practices and financial inclusion to transform Sri Lanka’s agricultural sector. With the vision of supporting 30,000 agripreneurs nationwide, the program has already reached over 15,000 farmers across the island, equipping them with the tools, knowledge and financing to move from traditional farming toward building resilient, future-ready agribusinesses.
Two of the latest programs took place this June, each drawing farmers from across their respective regions.
Sarusara Embilipitiya was held on 4 June and welcomed over 1,500 farmers. The event was graced by HNB Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer Damith Pallewatte.
Sarusara Mahiyanganaya followed on 17 June, attended by over 2,000 farmers. The MD/CEO was again present for the occasion, which carried particular significance with the participation of members of the island’s indigenous people — joining as part of the program for the first time.
HNB Sarusara is supported by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Government agriculture departments and leading private agri firms.
Together, the two programs reflect HNB’s continued commitment to reaching farming communities where they are, and building the kind of grassroots ecosystem that gives Sri Lanka’s agripreneurs a genuine platform to grow.
