VAT makes fags very expensive

Prices of cigarettes were increased from yesterday with the implementation of the 15% VAT.

Ceylon Tobacco Company Plc said the price of a Gold Leaf was increased by Rs.8, Dunhill by Rs.10 while the price of a Bristol was increased by Rs.5.

After the price increase, the new price of a Gold Leaf would be Rs.50, Dunhill Rs. 55 and a Bristol Rs. 35. There is no increment of the Capstan brand of cigarettes.
