Sunil new Chairman of NDB

Top professional and business leader Sunil Wijesinha has been appointed as the Chairman of NDB, replacing veteran Hemaka Amarasuriya who retired last week. The appointment of Wijesinha was approved by the NDB Board during its meeting on Saturday. Wijesinha was first appointed to the NDB Board in early October. Amarasuriya, who is also Non-Executive Chairman of Singer Sri Lanka, was appointed as Chairman of NDB on 4 August 2011 whilst previously he served the NDB Board for a long time.

Wijesinha is a Chartered Engineer, a Chartered Management Accountant FCMA (UK) and has an MBA. His experience in the financial services sector includes having been on the Boards of Sampath Bank PLC (as Deputy Chairman), Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka PLC (as Managing Director), Employees’ Trust Fund Board (as Chairman), Merchant Credit of Sri Lanka (as Chairman), Lanka Securities Ltd., DNH Financial Ltd., DFCC Vardhana Bank PLC, Colombo Stock Exchange and Siyapatha Finance Ltd., where he currently serves as Deputy Chairman. Consequent to the appointment of Mr Sunil Wijesinha as Chairman of NDB, the Board of directors of NDB comprises of Sunil Wijesinha (Chairman), Ashok Pathirage (Deputy Chairman), Rajendra Theagarajah (CEO/Director), Trevine Jayasekara, Anura Siriwardena, Sarath Wikramanayake, Kimarli Fernando, Chandra Ekanayake, Sujeewa Rajapakse and Indrani Sugathadasa.
