President worships Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi and receives blessings

President Mahinda Rajpakhe worshiped the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi at Anurdhapura and received blessings yesterday. Afterwards the President called on the Atamasthana Chief Incumbent, Ven. Pallegama Sirinivasa Thero. The President also inspected the construction going on around the ancient Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi during the visit. Later he called on the Ruwanveliseya Chief Incumbent, Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Thero. The President also attended the induction ceremony of 75 novice monks and offered them ‘pirikara’. North Central Province Governor Karunarathne Diwugane, Chief Minister S.M. Ranjith and Deputy Minister W.B. Ekanayake were also present.
