President says he will not influence businesses like previous leaders

President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday said that he would never personally try to influence any businessman or businesses.

The President made these observations at the 10th Hotel Show Colombo at the BMICH in Colombo.

“Unlike previous leaders I will not attempt to interfere in businesses and only provide support where necessary to develop the sectors,” Sirisena said.

Addressing a separate issue, he stated that the Government would take steps to completely ban the use of the chemical Glyphosate in pesticides as it had been deemed dangerous by both experts and the WHO.
