Opposition parties, trade unions, intellectuals and religious leaders have joined hands to form a people’s movement called Force for Unity to struggle for rights. Force for Unity will take to the streets next week demanding justice for the persons killed and affected by last week’s clash in Weliweriya and for people’s rights in general. Force for Unity comprises members of opposition political parties, intellectuals, artists, religious leaders and trade unions. The newly formed people’s movement will hold a mass rally in Colombo on Wednesday (14) at 2 p.m. opposite the Fort Railway Station.
