Neelakandan quits George Steuarts board

Kandiah Neelakandan, Precedent Partner of the Law Firm of Murugesu & Neelakandan, who was the Group Deputy Chairman of the Company since 1 April 2008 has reigned from all his positions in the George Steuart Group this week.

He was previously a member of the Board and Company Secretary since 11 January 2006 as well. The resignation follows several months after young investor Dilith Jayaweera acquiring controlling interest in George Steuart and subsequently appointed as Group Chairman.

Highly respected Neelakandan is in practice for 42 years and is a member of the Company Law Advisory Commission, the Law Commission of Sri Lanka, and the Council of Legal Education, and he has authored the first book on the new Companies Act.
