Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered his congratulations to Prime Minister elect Ranil Wickremesinghe, on the wonderful performance of his alliance in the elections in Sri Lanka, Indian media reports said. 

“Spoke to Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe and congratulated him on his alliance’s wonderful performance in the elections. I am confident that under Mr. Wickremesinghe’s leadership, bilateral ties between India and Sri Lanka will get stronger,” Prime Minister Modi said. 

Modi extended his heartfelt congratulations to the people of Sri Lanka on the peaceful conduct of polls.
