Galle Port land leased for unsolicited ship building facility

The Cabinet has approved the leasing out a portion of land at the Galle Port for a Yacht/Leisure Craft Repair and Ship Building facility based on an unsolicited proposal.

The party which will do the project on a 30 year lease basis is M/s Sea Gulf (Pvt) Ltd. which has forwarded an unsolicited proposal to construct a Yacht/Leisure Craft lifting facility and the barge mounted   Yacht/Leisure craft repair facility at the Port of Galle.

Cabinet approval was based on a proposal by President Mahinda Rajapaksa in his capacity as the Minister of Ports and Highways.
