Former Supreme Court judge joins Lanka Orix Finance Board

Justice R.K.S. Suresh Chandra has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Lanka ORIX Finance Plc with effect from 12 July 2012.

Justice Chandra has Bachelors and Masters Degrees in law from the University of Colombo. He was appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court in 2010 (a position he held until his retirement this year). He was also appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court in Fiji in 2011.

Justice Chandra has over 30 years of experience as a lecturer specialising in labour law and is a visiting Lecturer and Examiner at the Faculty of Graduate Studies of the Colombo University, Open University of Sri Lanka Moratuwa University and the Sri Lanka Law College.

He served as a Consultant to the World Bank on the Land Tilting Project in Sri Lanka, USAID projects, Tea Sourcing Partnership of London and to the Southern Development Authority. He was also instrumental in structuring the Coir Council, the Ceramics Council, and the Spice Council for the first time in Sri Lanka.
