Importers of sugar will see their cost rise with the Finance Ministry hiking taxes, though retail prices will remain unchanged.
The Finance Ministry said yesterday that the Special Commodity Tax on imported white sugar will be aincreased by 86% or up Rs. 6 from Rs. 7 to Rs. 13. “Retail prices will not be increased,” the Ministry added.
