CPC seeks 310,000 barrels gasoil, gasoline

SINGAPORE (Reuters): The Ceylon Petroleum Corp (Ceypetco) is seeking 310,000 barrels of gasoil and gasoline for prompt delivery in August, traders said on Monday.

CPC is seeking a combined cargo of 30,000 barrels of 0.25% sulphur gasoil and 280,000 barrels of 90-octane gasoline for delivery into Muthurajawela and Dolphin Pier in Colombo.

The cargo is for delivery on 25 August in a tender that closes on 14 August, with 72 hours’ validity.

It is likely a replacement cargo that initially was supposed to be supplied by oil trader Vitol earlier this month, traders said, though this could not immediately be confirmed.

Vitol had won an earlier tender to supply 70,000 barrels of 0.25 per cent sulphur gasoil and 240,000 barrels of 90-octane gasoline for delivery on 21 August.

But Ceypetco earlier this month took Vitol, the world’s largest oil trading firm, off its supplier list, alleging diesel supplied by the firm had damaged vehicles.

Vitol rejected the allegation and said the cargo in question was tested in accordance with international standards by Ceypetco inspectors before it was discharged.
