Cabinet nod $ 1.5 billion sovereign bond

Reuters: The Cabinet has approved the issue of a $ 1.5 billion sovereign bond to repay loans and manage interest payments, cabinet spokesman Gayantha Karunatilake told reporters on Wednesday.

He said the estimated borrowing requirement to cover loan instalments and interest in 2017 is Rs. 1.48 trillion

($ 9.8 billion).
