Why all this ‘song and dance’ on International Women’s Day?

Saturday, 14 March 2026 00:00 -     - {{hitsCtrl.values.hits}}

  •  Every year, many corporates suddenly realise it’s 8 March and rush to “showcase” their commitment.
  • These practices often stem from guilt, FOMO, or the urge to “keep up with the Joneses.” Few truly confront the root causes.
  • Ensuring women are not discriminated against in recruitment, promotions, or remuneration.
  • Recognising that childbearing requires workplace flexibility, and ensuring career progress is not penalised as a result.
  • Actively discouraging “old boys’ clubs” and “macho cultures” that unfairly marginalise women.
  • Surprised that many boards and C-suites are still full of men?
