Vidullanka’s Rs. 1.8 b Ranna solar project ready, awaits grid connection

Vidullanka PLC yesterday announced that construction of its 10 MW Ranna Solar Power Project has been completed, with the plant now awaiting energisation of its grid interconnection line before commercial generation can begin.

Vidullanka said the project was owned and developed by DPV Solar Energy Ltd., a joint venture entity in which it holds a 50% equity interest, in partnership with the David Pieris Group. The company said Rs. 1.8 billion had been invested in developing the project.

The plant is currently awaiting Electricity Distribution Ltd., (EDL) to energise the newly constructed grid interconnection line.

Vidullanka said final testing and commissioning would be completed once the line is energised by EDL, after which the plant will commence commercial generation and supply electricity to the national grid.

Upon commissioning, the Ranna project will add 10 MW of renewable energy capacity to the national grid and expand Vidullanka Group’s domestic solar generation portfolio.
