Vidullanka PLC celebrated the opening of its newest solar facility, the 6MW Madampe solar plant, on 21 February. This newly connected plant is the company’s largest fully owned solar facility in its portfolio and serves as the fourth solar project commissioned by the company during the 2025/26 financial year.

Constructed under the project company Vidul Madampe Solar Power Ltd., this solar plant consists of 12,320 solar modules, 20 inverters and one transformer station. The plant holds the ability to export approximately 9.9 GWh of clean energy annually to the national grid with its 6 MW capacity. This brings the capacity of Vidullanka’s solar segment to 36 MW spread across a total of seven ground-mounted solar plants and five rooftop solar projects. The company’s next solar project with a capacity of 10MW is presently under construction.

On top of this recent achievement, Vidullanka has confirmed the development of several upcoming projects. This includes its newest ventures into wind power in Alankuda and Mannar and the company’s recent win for the 10MW Battery Energy Storage Solution tender floated by the CEB, which is expected to be commissioned in the next financial year. These new tenders add nearly 80MW to the company’s project pipeline, which would potentially bring Vidullanka’s cumulative capacity up to 150MW upon the completion of these projects.

Vidullanka’s project pipeline demonstrates that the company is well positioned to enhance the nation’s pursuit to achieve its renewable energy targets. Driven by its vision to sustainably energise the planet by building on renewable energy sources, the company is committed to advancing clean energy solutions that drive sustainable development.
