Party leaders, who met yesterday under the auspices of newly-elected Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, decided to hold a two-day debate next week on the Vote on Account scheduled to be presented to Parliament today.

A Vote on Account allocating around Rs. 1 trillion is to be presented in Parliament by the Government, authorising expenditure for the period from 

1 September to 31 December 2020.

The debate on the VOA will be held on 27 and 28 August.

The debate was requested by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SBJ) and the JVP-led Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) at the party leaders’ meeting.
