US Federal prosecutors are closing their criminal investigation into Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, US Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced Thursday. The probe, which centred on cost overruns in the Fed’s D.C. headquarters renovation, will now be handed to the Fed’s inspector general. Pirro left the door open, warning she won’t hesitate to restart a criminal investigation “should the facts warrant doing so.”
