The Transport and Highways Ministry has decided to issue temporary driver’s licences to foreign visitors on arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

The new move aims to streamline the process and improve convenience for tourists.

Accordingly, the Ministry has decided to set up a dedicated counter at the BIA for this purpose, which will be officially launched early next month.

At present, international tourists are required to obtain a temporary driver’s licence from the Motor Traffic Department office in Werahera.
