Sri Lanka’s tea production in May totalled 25.37 million kilos, showing an increase of 3% or 0.72 million kilos from a year ago.
Forbes & Walker said all elevations showed an increase in comparison with the corresponding month of 2024.
Low Grown crop rose by 0.18% to 14.32 million kilos, High Grown by 3.4% to 5.8 million kilos, and Medium Grown by 10.5% to 4.98 million kilos.
The January-May 2025 cumulative production totalled 113.96 million kilos, recording an increase of 9.16 million kilos or 8.7% from the corresponding period of 2024.
All elevations recorded an increase in comparison with the corresponding period of 2024.
Low Grown crop was higher by 5% to 66 million kilos, High Grown by 13.8% to 25.6 million kilos, and Medium Grown by 14.6% to 21.25 million kilos. Green tea production rose by 20% to 1 million kilos.
