Sumanthiran, Harsha and Eran react to presidential vote

TNA MP M.A. Sumanthiran, SJB MPs Dr. Harsha de Silva and Eran Wickramaratne were among popular politicians to take to Twitter following the conclusion of the presidential vote in Parliament.

“Parliament has again shown that it is in the clutches of the PodujanaParty that had lost its mandate. I repeat that the Parliament must be dissolved. Anura Dissanayake made a good point: the number of those that publicly endorsed Dullas Alahapperuma is more than 113! What happened then???,” queried Sumanthiran.

“So SriLanka has a new President. Ranil Wickremesinghe has won with a huge majority 134 to Dullas Alahapperuma’s  82 to Anura Dissnayake’s  3. Congratulations Mr President! Let’s hope he will succeed in taking this country out of this crisis,” tweeted Dr. Harsha de Silva.

Eran Wickramaratne said: “I hope the outcome would facilitate immediate political stability that is an imperative prerequisite to stabilise the economy, so a general election can be called to restore people’s mandate thereafter.”
