Sri Lankan passport holders will no longer be able to enter Thailand without a visa from 15 September 2026, Thailand’s Foreign Affairs Ministry has said.
This follows a review approved by the Thai Cabinet in May, which scrapped the existing 60-day visa-free scheme and updated the list of countries eligible for visa-free entry. The review looked at national security, tourism, economic interests, and whether other countries offer Thai citizens similar visa-free access.
From 15 September, Sri Lankans travelling to Thailand will need to get a visa before they leave.
Applications must be made online through Thailand’s e-Visa system. The Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo does not accept visa applications in person.
Travellers who enter Thailand before 15 September under the current visa-free rules can stay for the full period already granted to them, the Thai Foreign Affairs Ministry said.
