The Sri Lankan-German Business Forum 2026 commenced yesterday in Colombo, bringing together senior representatives from the German public and private sectors alongside Sri Lankan business leaders, policymakers, and entrepreneurs to strengthen bilateral trade and investment ties.
Organised by the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka (AHK Sri Lanka) with the support of the German Embassy in Colombo, the three-day forum is aimed at promoting Sri Lanka as an attractive destination for foreign direct investment (FDI), particularly in the maritime and logistics sectors.
The opening day at TRACE Expert City featured a dedicated startup and innovation event, providing Sri Lankan startups and technology companies an opportunity to showcase products, digital solutions, and business capabilities to an international audience.
The main conference, scheduled for today at the ITC Ratnadipa Hotel, will bring together Government officials, international experts, and corporate leaders for discussions centred on maritime development, export competitiveness, infrastructure financing, and investment opportunities.
The Forum will also examine opportunities to strengthen exports to the EU through digitalisation, sustainability initiatives, and the effective use of Generalised Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP+) trade concessions, while discussions on port infrastructure financing and emerging market opportunities are also expected to feature prominently.
