Sri Lanka hosts 5th BIMSTEC Summit today

Sri Lanka will host the 5th Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Summit in Colombo.

The three-day summit will be inaugurated todayand will conclude on Wednesday, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said.

Given the pandemic situation, the BIMSTEC summit will be held in hybrid mode hosted by the Government.

Foreign Ministers of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, and Thailand and top officials have arrived in Sri Lanka for the BIMSTEC.

The senior officials’ meeting and ministerial meeting are scheduled to be held today and tomorrow respectively.
