Participants at the first-ever roadshow in Dhaka
Marking a fresh push to tap the Bangladeshi outbound travel market, the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), together with the Sri Lankan High Commission in Bangladesh, successfully concluded its first-ever media networking session and B2B roadshow in Dhaka on 5 and 6 April.
The media networking session drew 35 leading Bangladeshi journalists, helping strengthen media ties and boost awareness of Sri Lanka as a travel destination.
Participants engaged actively during a press conference hosted by the SLTPB, reflecting strong interest in the country’s tourism offerings.
The B2B roadshow and networking evening saw robust participation, with 147 Bangladeshi travel agents holding discussions with 19 Sri Lankan tourism companies. The engagements are expected to translate into stronger partnerships and increased tourist flows in the coming months.
Sri Lanka Tourism said the initiative marked an important step in positioning the country as a preferred destination for Bangladeshi travellers, with plans to build on the momentum through continued engagement in the market.
Year-to-date (YTD), 12,120 Bangladeshi nationals visited Sri Lanka, reflecting 2% of total arrivals to the island nation.
National carriers SriLankan Airlines and FitsAir also took part, enhancing connectivity prospects and commercial collaboration between the two countries.
The events were attended by key stakeholders including High Commissioner Dharmapala Weerakkody, SLTPB Chairman Buddhika Hewawasam, Bangladesh Tourism Board CEO Nuzhat Yasmin, Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB) President Mohammad Rafuzzaman, and (BOTOA) Bangladesh Outbound Tour Operators Association President Syed Ghulam Mohammed.
