President Anura Kumara Disanayake, who is currently on a State visit to the Maldives, held bilateral discussions with Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu yesterday at the Maldivian Presidential Office.
Following their discussion, Sri Lanka and the Maldives signed two key agreements aimed at strengthening bilateral ties during President Disanayake’s State visit to Malé.
The first was a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Bandaranaike International Diplomatic Training Institute and the Foreign Service Institute of Maldives (FOSIM) to enhance cooperation in diplomatic training, information exchange, and institutional collaboration.
The second agreement focuses on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, marking a step forward in judicial cooperation and cross-border law enforcement.
The MoUs were signed by Maldivian Foreign Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel and Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath, and are expected to deepen institutional ties between the two countries.
