The Sri Lanka-Japan Business Council (SLJBC) of The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will lead a high-level business delegation to Tokyo next month to participate in the Tokyo Investment Forum, organised in collaboration with counterparts, the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) and the Japan-Sri Lanka Economic Cooperation Committee.

The Tokyo Investment Forum, to be held with the participation of President Anura Kumara Disanayake, is expected to be a landmark event in strengthening bilateral economic cooperation, trade, and investment between the two countries.

During the visit, the SLJBC delegation will also hold discussions with the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), focusing on further enhancing Japanese investment in Sri Lanka and identifying new areas of collaboration.

As part of its forward-looking initiatives, the SLJBC has proposed the establishment of a dedicated Free Trade Zone (FTZ) in Sri Lanka exclusively for Japanese investors. This initiative aims to create a competitive and investor-friendly environment to attract Japanese companies, strengthen supply chain integration, and position Sri Lanka as a strategic investment hub in the region.

The SLJBC said it remains committed to playing a leading role in fostering stronger economic ties between Sri Lanka and Japan and ensuring long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships.
