Anilana Hotels and Properties yesterday disclosed that its resorts situated in Nilaveli, Trincomalee and Passikudah were acquired under the provisions of Recovery of Loans by Banks (Special Provisions) Act but is contesting the move whilst revealing there was an investor with Rs. 1.2 billion.
Anilana said without prejudice to Sampath Bank›s move, it had initiated two cases bearing case Nos. CHC 98/25/MR and CHC 99/25/MR challenging the resolution adopted by Sampath Bank PLC with regard to decision to acquire the properties and these cases were also pending in appeal before the Supreme Court in Case Nos.SC/HCLAIl15/26 and SC/HCLAIl16/26 in appeal.
Furthermore, in a disclosure to the Colombo Stock Exchange, Anilana said it has made an application to compromise under and in terms of the Companies Act bearing case No. CHC 60/2026/CO informing Court of a prospective investor who had offered Rs. 1.2 billion for the said hotels in-order to compromise with the Sampath Bank PLC and the Commercial High Court has issued notice on Sampath Bank.
