  • Accuses NPP of trying to evade debate between economic councils of both parties
  • SJB leader Sajith Premadasa says party is prepared to debate NPP in May
  • Stresses country needs leaders who demonstrate proactive work rather than just talk

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) leader Sajith Premadasa yesterday questioned the National People’s Power (NPP) party’s seeming reluctance to hold a debate between the economic councils of both parties.

Speaking at a public gathering in Weeraketiya, Premadasa pondered whether their refusal stemmed from the incompetence of the NPP economic council.

“The reluctance to hold a debate between economic experts suggests an issue with their economic council, which appears to lack capability.

Therefore, it’s suggested that they participate in both debates in May without merely sending letters.

Actions speak louder than words. What the country truly needs are leaders who demonstrate proactive work rather than just talk,” Premadasa remarked.

Premadasa expressed that the people are weary of mere talk and theatrics. “The SJB is ready for both dialogue and action. Therefore, step up and join us in the debate,” he challenged.

Premadasa remarked that when challenged to hold a debate between the economic councils, the NPP is trying to evade and proposing a debate between party leaders instead.

He asserted that the SJB is ready to proceed with both debates in May and will not retreat. “We accept both challenges. We are not cowards,” he declared.
