SLID celebrates 25 years of advancing corporate governance

The Sri Lanka Institute of Directors (SLID) will mark a remarkable 25-year journey of advancing corporate governance and board leadership in Sri Lanka at its Annual Members’ Meeting 2026 and 25th anniversary celebration today (14) at the Oak Room, Cinnamon Grand Colombo.

The milestone evening will bring together directors, business leaders, members, and partners to celebrate the SLID’s contribution to strengthening the quality of governance and leadership in Sri Lanka, while looking ahead to the evolving demands placed on boards and organisations.

Adding distinction to the occasion will be Chief Guest Secretary to the Prime Minister G. Pradeep Saputhanthri, and Guest of Honour Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to Sri Lanka and Diplomatic Corps in Sri Lanka Dean Dewi Gustina Tobing.

The evening will also feature a keynote address by former Sri Lankan Ambassador to the US, Mexico and Trinidad and Tobago Mahinda Samarasinghe on the theme “Tariffs: Defining the New World Order” on how trade, geopolitics and economic power are being reshaped.

The 25th anniversary celebration will pay tribute to the individuals and organisations that have been part of the SLID’s journey, with special recognition of its past CEOs, Chairpersons, and valued partners whose contributions have helped shape the Institute over the years.

Looking towards its next chapter, the SLID will also unveil the relaunch of its website and the launch of the SLID App, strengthening its digital presence and creating a more connected and accessible experience for its members. The enhanced digital platforms will bring the SLID’s programs, knowledge resources, insights, and member engagement closer to its community, wherever they are.

For the SLID, 25 years represents more than a milestone. It is a legacy built on the belief that strong boards create stronger organisations, and stronger organisations contribute to a stronger Sri Lanka.

The SLID said as the Institute celebrates the journey that brought it here, the occasion will also set the tone for what lies ahead — a future shaped by responsible leadership, stronger governance, and boards ready to lead through change.
