Revised rooftop solar tariff comes into force

The Government has announced a revised tariff for Rooftop Solar PY (RTSPY) schemes based on the input parameters used for determining the tariff.

A decision to this effect was made by the Cabinet of Ministers at its meeting on 16 June.

In line with this decision, the Energy Ministry has issued a directive to implement the revised tariff for the RTSPY systems.

Accordingly, the tariffs applicable for the RTSPY systems have been revised and will be effective from 16 June with the following conditions until the next tariff revision is implemented.

The revised tariff will be applicable to all RTSPY applicants who pay the RTSPY system clearance processing fee on or after 16 June.

RTSPY clearance extension requests submitted on or after 16 June will only be permitted under the new tariff defined.

All RTSPY clearance requests for which the processing fee has been paid on or before 16 June will be evaluated and finalised by the Ceylon Electricity Board on or before 31 July 2025.

The new tariffs will be applicable only to new RTSPV requests. Once the Power Purchasing Agreement is signed under the new tariff scheme, the tariff will remain fixed for a period of20 years.

All Provincial DGMs/Area Chief Electrical Engineers/Area Electrical Engineers have been instructed to strictly adhere to the new directive with immediate effect.
