  • SEC releases names allegedly behind unlicenced venture
  • Urges public not to deposit funds into any bank account provided by Blue Ocean Securities and its mobile app BOMate

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) yesterday said it has lodged a formal complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) against Blue Ocean Securities Ltd., and its app BOMate, stating that it is an unlicenced investment entity.

“This entity is not licenced by the SEC to function as a market intermediary. The SEC has lodged a formal complaint with the CID regarding this unlicensed entity,” it added.

The regulator also noted that the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) has filed a separate complaint, prompting the CID to commence investigations into the matter.

According to the SEC, all complaints received from the public, along with relevant bank account details linked to the entity, have already been handed over to the CID to support the ongoing probe.

The SEC also cautioned that individuals identifying themselves as Rohan Dias, claiming to be a Chief Analyst of Blue Ocean Securities, and Natasha Perera, claiming to be his Assistant, are not licenced or authorised by the SEC. The Commission stressed that impersonators are currently using these names to mislead investors.

“The SEC strongly urges the public not to deposit any funds into any bank account provided by this entity and to exercise extreme caution when engaging in investment related activities,” it stressed.

On 25 November 2025, the SEC warned of a scam by this unlicenced securities firm (https://www.ft.lk/front-page/SEC-warns-of-scam-by-unlicenced-securities-firm/44-784815).
