A record Rs. 175 billion was raised via the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) last year, officials revealed on Tuesday.
The raising of funds was via both listed equity and debt. The 2024 figure was significant as against Rs. 73 billion in 2023, Rs. 44 billion in 2022, and Rs. 123 billion in 2021.
Of the Rs. 175 billion raised included Rs. 94 billion via debentures, Rs. 63 billion via Rights, Rs. 14 billion via private placements, and Rs. 2.8 billion via equity.
The CSE also had 25 new issues, including four Initial Public Offerings (IPOs), 12 debentures, and 18 Rights.
