Inland Revenue Service Special Grade Officer R.P.H. Fernando has been appointed as the Commissioner General of the Inland Revenue Department with immediate effect.The proposal to this effect submitted by President Anura Kumara Disanayake in his capacity as the Finance, Planning and Economic Development Minister was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers at their meeting on Monday.
Speaking at the post-Cabinet meeting media briefing yesterday, Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said Fernando was serving as the Acting Commissioner General of the Department.
Her appointment follows the retirement of W.A.S. Chandrasekara, who officially stepped down from public service on 28 February 2025.
