The Presidential Secretariat has pushed ahead with a program to institutionalise Codes of Ethics across the State sector, holding a one-day workshop at Temple Trees that brought the total coverage to 244 Internal Affairs Units established within State institutions.
The workshop, the second phase of the program, was led by Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake.
It was conducted with resource contributions from Bureau for Promoting Integrity Head and Additional Secretary to the President Chandima Wickramasinghe and Senior Additional Secretary to the President K. Prasanna Chandith.
Heads of Internal Affairs Units and Integrity Officers representing Government Departments, statutory institutions, Provincial Ministries, and Provincial Departments took part in person, while officials from the Northern, Eastern, North Central, and Uva Provinces joined online.
The program’s focus on Internal Affairs Units and Integrity Officers points to a continuing effort to build formal accountability mechanisms within State institutions, an area that has long drawn scrutiny over inconsistent internal oversight and slow institutional reform.
